Basic Function

The R&D Technician will support engineering during the assembly and rework of our product electrical systems. This position is responsible for complying with the Quality System requirements and carrying out responsibilities as outlined in the environmental, health, and safety policies.

Responsibilities

  • Support assembly and rework of engineering prototypes during product development
  • Assemble and/or rework of electrical subsystems and cables
  • Author and/or perform verification test plans on various electronic devices
  • May design and manufacture custom fixtures
  • Assist the engineering team with product design and development
  • Assemble electrical and mechanical components of machines, tools, equipment, and systems with mechanical and electrical parts
  • Conduct mechanical and electrical tests on the functionality of product protypes and document the results.
  • Suggest design modifications and improvements

Qualifications

  • Electronics Technology diploma, A.A.S., or equivalent experience is required; BA desired
  • 2-5 years experience working in electronics development or testing
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Competency in working with very small, surface-mount electrical components on fine and delicate assemblies
  • Working knowledge of the proper use of engineering measurement equipment, including multi-meters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers
  • Knowledge of FDA, GMP, and ISO 13485; any experience with QSR implementation is desired, but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and clearly communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge to other individuals and teams
  • Must be personally organized and be able to organize a lab environment
  • Strong attention to detail including analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working with and seeking optimum solutions with team members in adjacent disciplines of engineering
  • Advanced computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Previous start-up experience, a plus, but not required

Working Conditions

  • Light work, exerting up to 20 lbs. of force or less
  • Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less (near vision) and ability to identify/distinguish colors
  • Must be able to operate in a Magnetic Resonance (MR) environment
  • Requires very fine finger work (tweezers under microscope), repetitive motion, talking and hearing
  • Significant work pace & pressure due to deadlines
