Basic Function
The R&D Engineering Manager will direct, manage, and supervise engineers and technicians in the research, design, development, and verification/validation of capital equipment. This position is responsible for complying with the Quality System requirements and carrying out responsibilities as outlined in the environmental, health, and safety policies.
Location: Must be able to work at the Burnsville, MN office.
Compensation: The expected annual base salary range for this Minnesota-based position is $140,000-180,000. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, and Retirement Benefits).
Responsibilities
- Develops processes, policies, and procedures and ensure all engineering projects align with the organization’s objectives.
- Collaborates with other engineering disciplines, management, sales and marketing, and related departments as necessary to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and demand for engineering products and services.
- Manages engineering activities to ensure product or service projects are met on-time and conform to organizational and/or customer requirements.
- Advises leadership and other impacted departments on product or design changes which may affect profit, schedule, cost, or customer relationships.
- Hires, trains and manages employees and their activities to ensure high performance and accountability, collaboration, respect for diversity, and employee job satisfaction.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; master’s degree preferred.
- 5-7+ years’ engineering experience in the medical device industry preferred.
- 3+ years management experience.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify and manage proficiencies and deficiencies in the department (e.g. skills, resources, etc.).
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate priorities and decisions clearly and effectively.
- Experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
