Basic Function

The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for procuring and tracking materials necessary to produce our disposable devices and capital equipment. This position will handle purchasing of raw materials, components, products, and track delivery to our customers. Additionally, as a key member of the manufacturing support team, this role works closely with operation team members to develop and execute procurement strategies for a variety of highly engineered components and materials.

Candidates must be extremely organized, work well across multiple project teams, communicate effectively with team members in all positions and possess excellent negotiating skills. This person must be able to execute with a sense-of-urgency and demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills.  This position is responsible for complying with the Quality System requirements and carrying out responsibilities as outlined in the environmental, health, and safety policies.  


  • Performs purchasing/buying duties by analyzing inventory requirements and placing purchase orders for raw materials, components or products to the approved vendors to meet the required quantity and delivery dates
  • Reviews planned purchase orders that are generated and releases the planned orders in a timely manner
  • Reviews and anticipates shortages and expedites orders as necessary
  • Confirms and tracks orders, maintains and reviews open order status to reflect accurate vendor and purchase order information
  • Tracks purchase orders and escalates issues to the production team
  • Evaluates vendor performance and works with manufacturing team to improve vendor performance to provide a reliable supply chain
  • Provides input to resolves any quality, quantity or pricing issues concerning material with the vendor
  • Works with accounting to review purchase price variances and provides recommendations related thereto
  • Suggests changes for material handling, sourcing and related processes and systems. analyze and improve productivity and efficiency in procurement processes.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Logistics or Supply Management, or other closely related field
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience including experience with logistics, supply chain, third party manufacturing coordination, and purchasing of raw materials
  • Strong project management skills to accurately manage multiple projects at one time under minimal supervision
  • Strong negotiation and networking skills with the ability to understand price points to effectively manage vendor relations and contracts
  • Strong desire to please the customer with perfect product quality
  • Ability to work at a significant pace and perform well under the pressures of deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong documentation skills with a commitment to following process and procedures
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in medical device manufacturing
  • Metal and electrical material supply chain knowledge
  • Experience with Fishbowl Inventory software
  • Importing and exporting knowledge
