Senior Electrical Engineer

Basic Function

The Senior Electrical Engineer operates and leads research and development at the team level.  This role is responsible for the research, design, and development of capital systems products to ensure a successful product launch.  This position will be focused on the electrical design of systems that meet customer requirements based on input from research, marketing, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing departments. This position is responsible for complying with the Imricor Quality Management System requirements and carrying out responsibilities as outlined in the environmental, health, and safety policies.

Responsibilities

  • lead design and development at team level to design, prototype, and refine concepts using engineering principles, human factors/usability, and design for manufacturability practices.
  • Applies advanced engineering principles in the design and evaluation of electrical components, enclosures and systems.
  • Create prototypes and conduct testing to ensure design performs as expected.
  • Originate and/or review documentation including input requirements, design output, risk analysis, test methods, verification and validation plans/reports, and manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for assessment of standards as well as agency testing.
  • Evaluate electronic components to ensure availability, performance, and cost requirements are met.
  • Consults and solicits feedback from internal stakeholders to identify customer needs and translate these requirements into the designs. In addition, provides support regarding product development to internal departments as it relates to electrical design.
  • Responsible for the successful launch of products through the product development process by working cooperatively on project team with design assurance, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing. Create and execute change orders to document and implement changes.
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturing departments to ensure final design is properly realized based on the design intent.
  • Define and setup product in electronic document control software.
  • Prepare and present technical information to a technical and non technical audience.
  • Provides training and work direction as required to technicians and junior engineers.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of product development process system knowledge through delivery of high-quality deliverables.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the medical device industry; 3 years of experience with a Masters Degree in related field.
  • Experience with 60601-1 and 60601-1-2, and 60601-2-2 standards as well as overseeing testing completed by certified test labs.
  • Experience leading development of hardware DFMEAs for medical devices capital equipment.
  • Advanced computer skills including experience with schematic capture and board layout (preferably Altium), circuit simulation, and Matlab/Octave.
  • Ability to communicate concepts, ideas and knowledge effectively and clearly to other individuals and teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Radio Frequency (RF) and/or analog experience desired.
  • Experience with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Requires 5% travel.
